A space where you feel safe enough to bring the difficult parts of yourself
I’m Stuart, a UKCP-accredited Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist based in Chelmsford, Essex. I spent 25 years working in the City before retraining as a psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute, where I completed an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and now teach on the MSc Person-Centred Psychotherapy programme.
My approach is rooted in Person-Centred therapy while integrating Gestalt and Transactional Analysis perspectives. What matters most to me is creating a therapy space that feels genuinely human — warm, relational and free from clinical distance. I work with people who are ready to go deeper, who want to understand the patterns that keep repeating and who are willing to commit to the work that brings real change.

Areas I work with
These are the areas I specialise in. Most people I work with find that several of these overlap — they’re different doors into the same room.
Childhood Trauma Therapy
Specialist therapy for adults carrying the weight of childhood trauma — neglect, abuse, or unstable early environments.
Therapy for Adult Children of Narcissistic Parents
Support for adults raised by narcissistic parents, helping to untangle the lasting effects on self-worth, relationships and identity.
Addiction Therapy & Emotional Coping
Therapy for addiction and the emotional patterns that drive it — creating healthier ways to cope with difficult feelings.
Self-Worth, Shame & Low Self-Esteem
Working through deep-seated shame and low self-worth to build a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself.
Relationship & Attachment Difficulties
Exploring attachment patterns and relationship difficulties — understanding why you relate the way you do and how to change it.
Anxiety, Overwhelm & Emotional Burnout
Therapy for persistent anxiety, emotional overwhelm and burnout — finding space to breathe and strategies that last.
What you can expect from me — and what I expect from you
Therapy works best when both people show up fully. Here’s how I approach the work and what I ask of the people I work with.
I bring my full self
I don’t hide behind clinical distance. I show up as a real person — warm, honest and genuinely invested in your growth.
I notice what others miss
Clients tell me I pick up on patterns, feelings and dynamics that others have overlooked. I pay close attention to what’s said and unsaid.
I work in the deeper stuff
I trained for six years to work with trauma, shame and the things that sit beneath the surface. This isn’t short-term counselling — it’s psychotherapy.
You commit to showing up
I ask that you attend weekly, on time, and commit to the process. Real change comes from consistency and a willingness to stay with what’s difficult.
You pay for your sessions
Sessions are charged at the agreed rate, with a clear cancellation policy. I don’t offer discounts — the fee reflects the depth and quality of the work.
You turn up ready to work
Therapy isn’t a quick fix. The people I work best with are those who are hurting but willing — ready to look at the hard things and stay with the process.

Starting therapy
A straightforward process from first contact to our first session — no pressure, just a conversation to see if we’re a good fit.
- 1
Get in touch
Send me a message via the contact form, WhatsApp or email. Tell me a little about what brings you to therapy.
- 2
Initial conversation
We’ll arrange a short, no-obligation call to talk through what you’re looking for and whether my approach feels right for you.
- 3
First session
If we decide to work together, we’ll book your first session — in person in Chelmsford, or online. Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly.
- 4
Ongoing work
From there, therapy unfolds at your pace. We’ll work together for as long as it’s useful — most people I see stay for medium to long-term work.
