My story

From the City to the therapy room

I spent 25 years working in pensions and financial services in the City before retraining as a psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute — one of the most respected psychotherapy training institutions in the UK. I completed an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy, graduating in 2024.

Before that, I was a counsellor at ChildLine from 2017, and my private practice was established in 2023 while I completed my training. I now work both in private practice and as a member of the teaching team at Metanoia on the MSc Person-Centred Psychotherapy programme.

My approach is Integrative Humanistic, rooted in Person-Centred therapy while also integrating Gestalt and Transactional Analysis perspectives. I care deeply about creating a therapy space that feels human, warm and relational rather than clinical or overly technique-driven.

A lot of the people I work with struggle with things like childhood trauma, shame, low self-worth, addiction, anxiety, emotional overwhelm and difficult relationship patterns. I think one of my strengths as a therapist is creating a space where people feel genuinely safe enough to bring difficult or vulnerable parts of themselves. Clients also tell me that I notice patterns, feelings and dynamics that others have previously overlooked.

My approach

Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy

What that means in practice — and why it matters for the work we’d do together.

  • Person-Centred at the core

The belief that you are the expert on your own experience. My role isn’t to diagnose or fix you — it’s to create the conditions where you can explore, understand and grow.

  • Gestalt awareness

Paying attention to what’s happening right now, in the room, between us. The patterns that show up in your life often show up in the therapy relationship too — and that’s useful information.

  • Transactional Analysis insight

Understanding the roles and scripts we learned early in life and how they play out in our adult relationships — with partners, colleagues, friends and ourselves.
